April 23, 2002-- a puppy was born

It's Lou's birthday today, and he's 7 years old. July 5, 2002, we picked him up when he was 10 weeks old.

Bailey was 4 yrs old and only 10 months before we brought home a baby sister, and now a puppy!!

Seven in dog years is considered to be at the geriatric stage. He's about half way through his life and we can only hope he makes it until 14.
Despite his ongoing skin problems due to allergies, there is not much else that phases him, he is just enjoying life as it comes. He doesn't in the least act as if he is "old", but the signs of being more calm, listening better and just wanting to be comforted is him relaxing into his age. He could stand to loose about 5 lbs, and be more active, but of course that is not his fault. Even though he is not acting that old, the signs of his age are his physical "whiteness"...it's been premature for the last several years, mostly in his face. It's almost all white now at age 7, except a small spot on his nose that is golden. His body has also been changed to mostly white now. He's very light. It's assumed it's been genetic for his premature lightening of his coat, but that just makes Lou, Lou. It'll be intersting to see him in 5 years, will he be a "white golden"?

He is still full of energy, loves attention and being around people, loves to snuggle on the couch, loves other dogs, loves walks, and laying outside in the sun.

He's been a great addition to our family over the last 7 years.....and many more to come.

Happy birthday Lou!!
