An ever-present help

Our family learned a few short weeks ago that Steve's dad has cancer. A dad, a grandpa, a husband, a son, a brother, a friend.....so many people care. First the prostate, then the bladder....now we learn that it has spread to the bone, muscle and also the lungs. I am careful not to post too much information, as I am just learning the details and don't want to get it wrong. It's not the details that really matter though, and most of all just want to gain strength from all of you reading. There is no getting around it, the word "cancer", is a scary thought. I imagine it will be a rough road for the family, and although the outlook is uncertain at this time, I AM certain that God is with Steve, and with his family. Please keep us all in your prayers. The family currently has a web site set up on Caring Bridge.com

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging" (Psalm 46: 1-3).

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6

Dear Heavenly Father, how amazing it is to know that whether we are a child afraid of the dark, a couple going through relationship issues or a soldier on the battlefield, you are there holding us and protecting us. We praise you that you are all-powerful—giving us refuge from whatever evil comes our way. We thank you that with you by our side we have nothing to fear. Neither natural disasters, terrorists, financial issues, bad relationships or the day to day worries of life are too big for you to handle. Thank you for calming our fears and holding us through whatever comes our way. What an awesome God we serve, are grateful to, and offer all of our praise! Amen.
